  • The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi was commissioned to design a sculpture to commemorate the 1876 centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. The statue was a binational effort and it was agreed that the American people were to build the pedestal and the French were responsible for the statue and its assembly in the United States. Lack of funds caused the project to take until 1886, and Bartholdi also needed the help of an engineer to address structural issues. Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, designer of the Eiffel Tower, was commissioned to design the massive iron pylon and secondary skeletal framework that allows the statue's copper skin to move independently yet stand upright. Wind sway can cause the statue to sway up to three inches and the torch up to six inches. The torch is a symbol of enlightenment. Sunlight reflects off its gold leaf during the day and floodlights light it by reflection at night. The seven rays of the crown represent the seven seas and continents of the world. Chains and a broken shackle at the statue's feet symbolize her status as a goddess free from oppression and servitude. Her tablet, on which is written the date of American Independence, JULY IV MDCCLXXVI, represents the rule of law.

My recent travel was sadly horrendous. The issues start with information for my flight to my hotel stay. I had to email and call SN for my final holiday details as my date for travelling were nearing. This filled me with anxiety. My hotel itinerary was different to my friends, I had room only booked with no breakfast meal, the lift to our hotel floor was not working properly, there was no one to help us with our luggage to our room on the 18th floor, we had no hot water to shower after travelling for hours, I could not close the blinds to my window, so was completely disposed to all to see me in my room, the room itself was not very clean. My friends in another room also experienced the same issues as well, and we spoke with other guests who were equally disappointed. We complained almost every day, and eventually spoke to the hotel director Bill Russell (that's the name he gave us) Bill informed us that a waiver of 1 nights stay would be returned to us as soon as SN travel were contacted and informed. Sad to say this was my first time using SN and will be the last. DO NOT GO TO THE MANHATTAN AT TIMES SQUARE HOTEL!!! This place needs to be completely refurbished. We await to find out if we will have further contact with SN Travel & The Manhattan.

SNTtavel are truly amazing helping me pick a last minute spot to treat my daughter and myself to an indulgent 3 night getaway at the Royalton resort located at 5 islands. Shaped the remainder of our stay in Antigua and Barbuda. Family friendly well updated resort with great staff. Felt safe and secure throughout our stay.
