Jamaica Carnival 2025 (Bacchanal)

Jamaica Carnival, also known as Bacchanal, is definitely a Carnival you should add to your bucket list and attend at least once in your lifetime, as it really is a spectacular event. Not your average street party, Jamaica Carnival is all about the people of Jamaica and a celebration of heritage and local customs.
Expect beach parties, street parties, breakfast fetes, concerts and street parades! Jamaica Carnival also includes an event called J’ouvert where everyone throws paint and powder at each other – it is is as messy as it sounds, but so much fun!

What to Expect at Jamaica Carnival
Events take place in Kingston and Ocho Rios so we recommend splitting your trip between these two destinations so you can experience both destinations. Ocho Rios is also a popular holiday destination so you can get some well-deserved chill time when the parties are over. Expect a buzz of colours, feathers and amazing Jamaican costumes. The streets are lined with traditional Jamaica Dishes for you to try along with a band in every corner, playing anything from traditional Jamaican vibes, to Bob Marley inspired reggae, ska with even a little Jazz thrown in. Ensuring everyone has a place to enjoy the music they love. Expect happy faces everywhere, tons of people dancing, taking part in the festivities and most of all really enjoying themselves. What to See and Do in Jamaica
If you stay in Ocho Rios where many Jamaica Carnival events take place, there is plenty to see and do. Ocho Rios is a beach resort lined with hotels and lots of opportunities for exploring nature and adrenaline activities. The famous Dunn’s River Falls waterfall is very close by – no trip to Jamaica is complete without this! Mystic Mountain is a fun day out with water slides, zip lining, theme park and bob sledding through the rainforest.
