St. Lucia Creole Day Festival 2025 (Jounen Kweyol)
It goes without saying that Saint Lucia is a country not short of outstanding beauty and unique heritage. A former British colony that was in fact also a French colony before becoming independent from Britain in 1967. The control of St. Lucia could almost be said to be part of a tug and war match between the French and the British, as control of St. Lucia switched between the two countries fourteen times, seven times for the French and Seven times for the British. As a result of this St. Lucia is now a country of mixed culture, French, British, African and Caribbean. The traditions of each of these countries are now celebrated each year in the month of October as part of Creole Heritage Month. Creole Day in St Lucia is celebrated on the last Sunday of October. It is a holiday loved by just about everyone that lives on the Island of Saint Lucia.
So What is Jounen Kwéyòl and when Is It?
