St Patricks Day on Montserrat
Enjoy this 15 day festival of traditional Caribbean entertainment starts on 17th March 2024 and runs until 31st March. With a rich mix of Irish and African heritage Montserrat is one of the few places outside Ireland that has a public holiday for St Patrick’s Day, in memory of a slave uprising that sadly failed. Montserrat St Patrick’s Day celebrates their sacrifice. There is a fun filled line up of events throughout the whole of the festival including games, hikes and parties so its perfect for visitors as you will get to take in all aspects of Montserratian culture as well as explore this unique little island.

The festival kicks off on 17th March with a torch lighting ceremony and continues with pub nights, St Patrick’s Day dinner, calypso competitions, bus tours of cultural sights, fashion shows, live music, a freedom run, a parade, pool party, boat party, awards ceremony – you name it, Monserrat St Patrick’s Day has it covered. This incredible event has so much to get involved with. Make sure you try the traditional food, drink some Guinness and play some traditional games like dominoes, all while watching masquerade dancers with their mesmerising colourful displays!

How to get to Monserrat
Montserrat is a small island close to Antigua so the easiest and cheapest way to get there is to get a return flight to Antigua and then get the ferry across. The ferry takes 1.5 hours each way and there are several through the day with most in the morning and then early evening.
